Following the successful renovation of the West End, we have permission to undertake further building works, which will make sure our building remains fit for future generations of gospel ministry in Chelsea.
The plans are as follows:
1 – A NEW LOO
Currently the only loo available is through the narrow vestry and down several steps, making it inaccessible for the elderly or disabled.
The new plans include a disabled size WC in the main body of the church.
2 – RENOVATED GALLERY
At the moment, the gallery is both inaccessible and unsafe.
A new staircase will allow us to make the most of a strengthened and extended gallery for extra seating and storage space.
3 – REDESIGNED SPACE
Whilst we want to keep the traditional feel of the building, by removing pews from the south aisle, the Lady Chapel, and the front row, we’ll have much more room for wheelchairs, musicians, and wedding parties.
4 – SOUND SYSTEM
The current setup is adequate for speech, but not much more.
A new sound system with a dedicated mixing desk will allow our music ministry to continue to develop.
5 – KITCHEN FACILITIES
Improving the area around the sink with a fridge (and possibly an oven) will enable us to cater for the increasing number of events that take place alongside Sunday services.
